Kate is a multi-generational resident of the 17th Worcester District where she calls “home”. Kate was raised by small business owners who taught her the value of dedication and hard work, and she will bring an essential blend of background, education and experience to the State House.
Kate graduated from Leicester High School and is a product of our public education. She then went on to attend Sweet Briar College, where she earned a B.A. in Business Management. Kate’s education gave her a strong understanding of business and economics needed to support fiscally responsible policies to grow our economy and foster and environment where small businesses can thrive.
Since 2007, Kate has worked in many industries including the private sector, federal and state government as well as in our local school district.
Immediately after college, Kate accepted a position in Washington, D.C. as Staff Assistant to the Legislative & Regulatory Department of the Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation, a federal government insurance agency. There she learned the intricacies of federal legislative affairs and government regulation, and developed her passion for constituent services while earning several awards for her dedication, including an Outstanding Service Award from the Office of Policy & External Affairs.
Moving to the private sector as a Business Development Coordinator for Tutor Perini Corporation, Kate worked on multi-million dollar construction proposals and learned to navigate large government contracts while communicating daily with government officials, vendors and subcontractors both domestically and abroad.
Realizing her true passion for public service, Kate became involved in Massachusetts politics. She served as the District Liaison to State Representative Peter Durant, and she also had the honor of working at the State House as a Legislative Aide.In these positions she was dedicated to constituent services and helping others through the complex government web, hearing daily the genuine concerns and issues facing the people of Massachusetts.
During the most recent school years, Kate has truly enjoyed working with our students in the Leicester Public Schools as a substitute teacher. She is encouraged by our smart, ambitious students and Kate wants to ensure they have a successful future ahead of them. Kate has seen firsthand how teachers are working tirelessly and more creatively with fewer resources and how we need innovative ideas to improve our schools and continue our high educational standards.
Kate is committed to this community and ready to serve. She will work diligently every day to be your voice on Beacon Hill to create a great future for our families and Massachusetts!
